Where to Eat in Dover

3 May 2026

All that exploring Dover’s tourist attractions is bound to make you hungry.

Whether you’ve been up at the castle, walked along the seafront, or taken in the views from the White Cliffs, at some point you’ll want somewhere easy to stop, eat, and recharge.

That’s exactly why St James Shopping and Leisure is such a useful stop.

Just a short walk from the cruise shuttle drop-off and town centre, it brings together a range of food options in one place.

Where to eat at St James

Here’s what you’ll find, and what each place is best for:

Nando’s

A relaxed, sit-down dining experience with table seating.

Nando’s speciality flame-grilled chicken with a choice of spice levels, served with sides like chips, rice and salads. You order at the counter, then sit down while your food is brought to you.

Best for: A proper meal where you can sit, relax and take a break from exploring.

German Doner Kebab

Casual seating available, with quick-service food.

Freshly made GDK kebabs, wraps and bowls, often served with salad, sauces and loaded fries.

Best for: Something filling and fast, with the option to sit down if you have a bit more time.

Burger King

Indoor seating with a classic fast food setup.

Burgers, fries and drinks, served quickly and consistently.

Best for: A quick, familiar meal where you know exactly what you’re getting.

Taco Bell

Casual seating with fast service.

Taco bell, serving burritos, quesadillas and wraps and of course tacos,  all made quickly and packed with flavour.

Best for: Something a bit different that’s still quick and easy.

Papa John’s

Takeaway.

Freshly made pizzas with a range of toppings, plus sides like wings and garlic bread.

Best for: Taking food away to enjoy later, whether that’s by the seafront or back on the ship.

Kaspa’s

Sit-down dessert venue with table seating.

Kaspa’s are famous for waffles, crepes, sundaes and milkshakes in a relaxed setting.

Best for: A sweet treat and a chance to sit down and recharge.

Costa Coffee

Comfortable seating with a relaxed atmosphere.

Costa’s signature drinks, pastries and light snacks.

Best for: A quick break, a warm drink, or somewhere to pause before heading on.

Food on the go

If you’re short on time or want something to take with you:

Greggs

Quick, takeaway-focused.

Sausage rolls, sandwiches, pastries and hot drinks.

Best for: A fast, no-fuss bite while you’re on the move.

Marks & Spencer Foodhall

Takeaway-focused, no seating.

Sandwiches, salads, snacks and drinks, plus higher-quality ready-to-eat options.

Best for: Picking up something to enjoy later, whether that’s by the sea or back on board.

How long do you have?

When you’re on a cruise stop, timing is everything. Here’s how to choose based on the time you’ve got:

30 minutes or less

Stick to quick options like Burger King, Taco Bell, Greggs or M&S Foodhall.
You’ll be in and out quickly without worrying about queues or delays.

Around 1 hour

German Doner Kebab or Costa Coffee are good choices here.
You can sit down, eat comfortably, and still keep things moving.

1–2 hours or a relaxed stop

Go for Nando’s or Kaspa’s.
You can take your time, enjoy the experience, and properly recharge before heading back.

Where to find St James

St James sits between the marina, the town centre, and Dover’s main attractions. You will find us just around the corner from the cruise shuttle drop off point, or you can easily walk to us from the cruise terminal.
